House Interior Design
Decorative Painting
One of the most enjoyable ways to express your creative side when getting involved in a house interior design project is the fun of decorative painting. Depending upon the theme you have chosen for your house, and what room(s) you want to paint, consider starting by painting your furnishings.
House Interior design painting should be an expression of your imaginative thoughts and desires, and with as many variation of colors as possible. Your finished project can be made the focal point of your space, especially the bedroom.
"A Step Forward In Interior Design" by Carol Pollig-Ballweg is the consummate book on interior decorating for any situation. This book is unique and the only one of its kind anywhere.

The type of furnishing you decide to utilize for your decorative painting should first start with a tester project, such as an old chair, an unfinished bookcase, or a piece of furniture from storage.
Apply a primer to the surface if it is unfinished. However, if the surface has been painted in the past then sand it smooth to remove old paint lumps and any gloss that may still exist.
If it is a smooth base finish that you are after, apply several thin base coats of paint, with light sanding in between (using wet sandpaper). Then apply a coat of polyurethane or varnish for that final, smooth and glossy look.
Decorative Painting Materials
Your house interior design painting plan should include the following materials:
1. Rough sandpaper (when old caked-up layers need to be removed from the furnishing)
2. Smooth, wet sandpaper (for smoothing out your layers of paint).
3. A primer for unfinished surfaces.
4. Several colors of your choice - acrylic paint.
5. Paintbrushes (preferably artist-type paint brushes).
6. A varnish (or polyurethane sealer).
7. Masking tape.
8. Pencils.
Decorative House Interior Design Painting Tips
1. For specific markings of your choice, you can make designs with your pencil (do not use ink, in case you make a mistake). Consider pre-made templates for small objects that are used specifically for house interior design painting projects.
2. Utilize your masking tape in order to create sharp edges and creative outlines of different shapes and objects. Be sure to secure the tape flat and add paint lightly so that it does not bleed underneath the tape edges. Once dried, peel off each design of tape and enjoy your creation.
3. Textured designs can be created by dragging the edge of cardboard strips, cut like a comb, over a thick layer of wet paint. Allow these lines to dry and enjoy the original pattern.
4. Create squared patterns (or circular if you wish) by stenciling a checkerboard design and then color every other square pattern with a solid color of black or blue. Actually, any color will do; it's all up to you, which is the beauty of house interior design! |
