Bedroom Interior Design
Choosing the perfect style for your bedroom interior design plan is simply a matter of trusting your intuition and designing the room how you want the area to look, without relying on friends or too much influence from other interior designers you may be getting advice from.
Of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with consulting with a professional interior designer, but in the end, your bedroom interior design will be created for you - your own personal retreat from the rest of the world.
There are three types of styles that you can research for your bedroom interior design project. They are: traditional, transitional, and contemporary. The furnishings for each style will range from simple to detailed, and streamlined to elaborate.
Bedroom Interior Design: Traditional Style
When it comes to decorating, the traditional bedroom interior style encompasses a variety of other styles in the mix. You'll often see a mixture of patterns on windows, walls, and the bed(s). Coziness and comfort are the number one hallmarks of the traditional bedroom style.
"A Step Forward In Interior Design" by Carol Pollig-Ballweg is the consummate book on interior decorating for any situation. This book is unique and the only one of its kind anywhere.

Bedroom interior design plans that utilize the traditional style are often lavishly decorated with elaborate tapestries formed into colorful fabrics, made of sateen or cotton chintz. It is very common to see long draperies elegantly puddled onto the floor. The bed is often decorated by thick layers of eye-appealing bedspreads and bright bed skirts, with embroidered linens that often show off a lace-trim design.
Style is also another factor that comes into play with home office interior design ideas. This is especially true if your office is connected to part of the living area of another room.
The traditional style bedroom is the perfect choice for bedroom interior designs for people that are looking to express their inner colors and personal tastes. It is the essential style for those of you who would like to decorate around family photographs, valuable antiques, and sentimental personal memorabilia.
Bedroom Interior Design: Transitional Style
Decorating your bedroom with a transitional style, otherwise known as "eclectic style", combines the most appealing qualities of both traditional and contemporary bedroom interior designs (see below).
Integrating elements from different styles, the transitional choice of interior design will often have furniture that matches the atmosphere in both weight and proportion. For example, you might have your bed designed with traditional furniture, yet have a glossy, white paint finish. Add to that clear, crisp colors which provide a contemporary look. Colors can be implemented for the rest of your bedroom interior design plan that blend various styles of furnishings if needed.
Bedroom Interior Design: Contemporary Style
And finally, the contemporary style is a very modern look which offers the feel of more space and requires specific consideration to the right colors, furnishings, and typically involves making one special furnishing of the bedroom the main focal point (typically the bed). Many elements of the contemporary bedroom interior design style involve angular lines and a crisp direction, while color variation is kept to the minimum. To further emphasize a more spacious look to the room, light colors are often chosen (unless the room is exceptionally large, in which interior designers opt for a more neutral colors).
The walls of a contemporary bedroom interior design style are typically without much addition, almost always bare, with a solid, mild color of paint. For instance, the floors might be a polished hardwood-type, or have Berber carpeting, or even perhaps a choice of dhurrie rugs.
The one interesting design feature that is my favorite with the contemporary bedroom interior design style is the lighting. To add a dramatic look to the refined style of the bedroom, dramatic lighting is often used. You may see ceiling-mounted track lighting, cove lighting, or recessed lighting.
